Walking through the streets of the historic center to discover Lipari, one of the jewels of the Mediterranean. We meet in Marina Corta at 11am and we return to the same place for 12.30pm

  • The visit of the archaeological area will help us to deepen our knowledge of the rich historical heritage of Lipari: the Cathedral of San Bartolomeo, the Church of the Immaculate Conception and the Norman cloister.
  • Along the way, we will talk about the history of the city and discover its most emblematic places.
  • We will end the tour at 12:30 at the starting point, greeting us with a tasting of a typical liquor of the island. Cheers!

 

Tour details: We will meet up at 11 am in Piazza Ugo Sant'Onofrio square and start walking through the streets of Lipari towards its magnificent castle, overlooking the Sicilian city.As we explore the archaeological zone of this citadel, you will hear all about the rich historical legacy of Lipari.

This location has been inhabited since the time of the Etruscans and has passed through the control of the Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, and Arabs. In this area, we will highlight the 16th-century Spanish walls, the cathedral of San Bartolomé, the church of Santa María Inmaculada, and the Norman cloister.Afterward, we will walk to the archaeological park of Diana, where we will discover the remains of ancient Greek walls that date back more than 2000 years and ancient tombs.

The next stop is Piazza Giuseppe Mazzini square, from where we will enjoy a perfect panoramic view of the Tyrrhenian Sea. This is also the location of the beautiful church of St. Anthony of Padua. Don't forget to bring your camera!We will continue to walk along the small, narrow streets of Lipari until we reach its picturesque fishing port.

Along the way, we will continue to talk about the history of this city and discover its many hidden charms.We will finish the tour at 12:30 pm back at the initial meeting point and raise a toast with a regional liquor before bidding farewell.
