Stromboli (in Sicilian dialect "Struògnuli", from the greek Στρογγύλη "spinning top"). It is an active volcano, the island has an area of 12.22 square kilometers; the volcano is one of the most active in the world, is 926 meters high and reaches a depth of about 1,700 meters below the sea level.
