Island of Salina

Island of Salina

The island  is divided into three municipalities: Santa Marina Salina, Malfa and Leni, The name "Salina" is derived from an existing pond in the hamlet of "Lingua" from which salt was extracted. In Salina there are extinct volcanoes. The most important are the "Fossa delle Felci" tall 962 meters and the "Monte dei Porri" 860.

In Salina are grown quality grapes from which we get the "Malvasia delle Lipari", a sweet wine! and capers exported all over the world.
